Social work wasn't just a whim, or a job to pass the time, or a paycheck. It was a chosen profession. One I loved and
derived so much satisfaction from.

To have that taken away...it was almost as devastating as losing Evan.

But I hung in there, tried my best to rise above it and accept what happened. My son needed me, so I couldn't be
bitter or feel sorry for myself. Life had to go on.

Joley and others drove me around now, and I hated it, but I was truly grateful that they cared enough to help me out.

The start of my downfall and heartbreak with the opposite sex began at the early age of 4.

Age 4, Tommy

Friends of my parents came over to play cards and visit, bringing their two boys, Tommy and Terry. Tommy was my
age and we had played together frequently on these visits. This visit started the same as the others--running, playing
“It”, and just having fun. Then we ended up in my bedroom with the door closed and we decided to play house. A few
minutes later my 6-year-old sister found us kissing on my Cinderella bed. Needless to say, we jumped apart when my
sister walked in, and denied the whole thing. As fate would have it, this would not be our first and last kiss.

Control is great. Flash a smile at a guy and he walks into a wall. Touch a guy’s leg and he freezes.

Girls, making a guy squirm, sweat, and work at being our boyfriend is the good life. I just wasn’t prepared for them
playing their tricks on me.
